Mrs. Cullen's Bio
Hello and welcome to my Bio!
I have 28 years of teaching experience, 16 of those years at Ballinger Elementary as a reading and writing teacher in the fourth grade. Nine years ago, I made the move to junior high to teach English. What a great decision because I love working with junior high students. They are a blast to teach! Then 2 years ago, I was given the opportunity to try something new at the junior high: drones and robotics. I'm not a gearhead, but teaching critical thinking in a hands-on elective is right up my ally. My expectations for the students are high, so we work hard in class...always. We write code, trouble-shoot, practice the iterative process, loads of teamwork, and much more. We will learn a lot about ourselves and our ability to persevere. Of course, through it all, we have fun.
BTW: The last two years, we have brought home first place trophies from the TCEA Reg. 15 Robotics contest!
I live in the country with my husband, Steven. We have two daughters, Haley and Emma. Both are graduates of Ballinger. I have one precious granddaughter, Layla. I enjoy being outdoors, as I'm an avid gardener. During the cooler months, you can find me watching NFL football. I am a big Steelers' fan, who is married to a die-hard Cowboys' fan. Yep, that's right! (I'm up one Super Bowl.)
As always, Go Bearcubs!
