Dear Parents and Students,

I hope you enjoyed your summer break. I have included information to help you and your student become more acclimated to 8th grade social studies for the 2015-2016 school year and understand more about me.

I was born and raised in the area of San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from Angelo State University with a History degree in secondary education. I am also currently finishing up my Master degree in Education of coaching and athletic administration. I am currently an assistant varsity football coach for Ballinger High School, as well as the freshman boys basketball, and varsity boys track and field coach. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the above phone number or email address.

Below you will find answers to many of your questions about this class and its organization.

There may be a time when this has to be added to or amended as the year progresses depending on additional information covered. This sheet should remain in the student’s Reading notebook under Class Info for reference.

Supplies: These items are to be brought to class every day:

  • 1 inch three ring binder
  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Note Book
  • (And The Will To Learn)

Entering/Dismissal: Students are to enter the classroom and be seated at their desk and become ready for each day’s activities prior to the ringing of the bell. Any assignments due on that day should be out and ready to be discussed or turned in. Finally, the bell will not dismiss you when class is over, I will.

Written & Typed Assignments: Most assignments you turn in should be in blue/black ink, written legibly on ONE SIDE of loose-leaf notebook paper, and ALL should have a complete heading (Example below).

Points will be deducted for an incomplete or illegible heading.

Each Assignment (per 6 weeks) will be added to a 3 ring binder and will be kept throughout each six weeks for you and your student’s personal reference. This binder will be turned in at the end of each 6 weeks for a grade. This binder can be used to monitor your student’s work and allows for them to have a reference to look at throughout each semester.

Classroom Guidelines: In addition to the guidelines in the Student Handbook students are expected to: *Respect the school, themselves and others
