Class Syllabus

Welcome to 7th grade Science! I am looking forward to a great school year and I plan to do everything that I can to help each student have a successful year. I plan to provide a learning environment where each student enjoys coming to class and is eager to learn.

I have a discipline plan that I will use in my classroom in order to ensure that each student has the best learning environment possible. This plan will be in effect throughout the school year and will help the students to make responsible choices.

Classroom Expectations/Rules:

  1. Follow directions
  2. Be prepared for class (supplies, laptop, library book, in desk when tardy bell rings)
  3. Be respectful to yourself and others
  4. Be on time!
  5. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself

If a student chooses to break a rule, the following will occur:

  1. Verbal warning
  2. Conference with the student
  3. Conference with the parents (meeting, email, or phone call)
  4. Detention with the teacher/ Parent will be notified
  5. Principal referral/ Parent will be notified

Tardy Policy: (per six weeks)

There is a four-minute passing period between each class. I expect each student to be in his or her desk and prepared for class when the tardy bell rings. If a student is not in class when the tardy bell rings, the following will occur:

  1. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd tardy- Warning
  2. 4th tardy- 1 day of lunch detention
  3. 5th tardy- 2 days of lunch detention
  4. 6th tardy- 2 hours of Saturday school
  5. 7th tardy- 4 hours of Saturday school
  6. 8th tardy- 1 day of ISS

    • There will be more severe measures taken after the 8th tardy that the student receives.

Grading Policy:

Grades will be based on daily and test grades.

Tests = 50% of total grade

Daily work = 50% of total grade

Tests:

There will be a minimum of two test per 6-weeks that will count at    50% of the total class grade.

Daily work:

Daily work will consist of worksheets, vocabulary, quizzes, and participation that will count as the other 50% of the total class grade. We will have a minimum of 12 daily grades per 6-weeks.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions throughout the year. I appreciate your support and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year with the 7th grade class!
