The character trait for the 2nd Six Weeks is Responsibility.  Rebecca Alexander, Northern Outreach Coordinator with The Family Shelter, is talking to our JH classes about taking responsibility in their lives.  She is also integrating information about Bully Awareness during her time here at BJHS.


Students - if it is an EMERGENCY, go directly to the JH office.  If you want to report an incident, 1) Pick up a STUDENT BULLYING REPORT FORM at the JH 
Library.  2) Fill it out and return to Mrs. Castleberry's box in the office.  3) You may remain anonymous if you wish. 
October is Bully Prevention Month.  BJHS students signed bully awareness pledges and received bookmarks as a reminder.

Red Ribbon Week October 23-27, 2017.  Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug Free!

Monday, October 23rd  – Strike out Drugs!  Wear your favorite team baseball cap.

Students will be given the interactive National Drug & Alcohol IQ Challenge quiz at Quiz takes approximately 10 minutes.  Once the quiz has been completed, students will see their scores as a percentage. 

Students will also be given a bracelet with the BJHS 2017 theme “Your Future is Key – So Stay Drug Free!”  Everyone is encouraged to wear bracelets daily. Prize drawings held randomly throughout the week.  A student must be wearing his/her bracelet to receive a prize. 

Tuesday, October 24th It’s Crazy to do Drugs!  Wear crazy or mismatched socks. Students

will take a look inside the brains of mice on drugs to show how various drugs disrupt the synapse.

Choose College, Not Drugs!  Wear a college t-shirt.  Drugs & Your Body: It Isn’t Pretty is a science-based, web based interactive lesson that reinforces key facts of several educational resources devoted to show the harmful health effects of drugs on the body. Students will have access at

Thursday, October 26thTeam up Against Drugs! Wear team colors.

Test your short-term memory quiz.  Marijuana and other drugs can mess with short-term memory. A good short-term memory is necessary for many of life's basic tasks, such as remembering a new friend's phone number and recalling vocabulary words for a test. Students will take a quick quiz to check short-term memory. They will be given 30 seconds to look at a list of 15 words at

Friday, October 27thBJHS Chooses to be Drug Free!  Wear your Bearcat spirit shirt.  Drawing for Red Ribbon Week-themed prizes. Drawings held during lunch. A student must be wearing his/her bracelet to receive a prize.
